GlideSonic – PRESHOW RITUALS

Glidy: When we’re on tour there isn’t a set period of preshow as such. Jaz spends the time chilling in his “hibernetic trance”. He sits in complete silence apart from the inevitable deep breaths. Kind of spooky. While I do my best to meet everyone involved and have as good a time as possible.

Jaz: Yeah – like sampling all the free drinks?

Glidy: It’s just before the show Jaz suddenly comes out of his trance and begins to meticulously check every single piece of equipment we need. And many that we don’t. I think it’s more about keeping his mind occupied than actually playing safe. The crew did all that stuff hours ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if he even checks the local piping. Jaz just really likes focus. While he’s doing that I’m still getting acquainted with the team and maybe giving an interview. We tend not to see each other for the most part until the show begins. Some days we do things differently, but the one thing that stays the same is our brotime a few minutes before we go on, a bit of time just for the two of us. Jaz, have I covered everything?

Jaz: Did you mention the avocado rhinoceros story?

Glidy: No…
