Great Good Fine Ok

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the synthpop duo, Great Good Fine Ok, reveals what they do before taking the stage. You can find out and listen to their newest single, “Change”, after the break.

Before a show, we do something called the “Deesh”. It’s a classic ‘hands in the middle’ kind of group chant where we say “Body deesh deesh deesh deesh diamond!”
The origin: We have a dance move called the “Body Diamond” (where our first EP got its name). The “Body Diamond” represents everything in life, both inside a person and out. It’s very powerful. On a side note, we used to have a drummer named Zach Morillo. We started calling him Modeesh, and that’s where the “Deesh” came from. We combined the “Body Diamond” and the “Deesh” to form this mantra.
Lately, we’ve been adding a preliminary vocal jam element where we all sing/say/yell anything we want in unison, harmony or in a chaotic fit of rage. This puts us beautifully in the mind-frame for the “Deesh”. After the chant is complete, we violently slap each other (below the neck). Once this ceremony is complete, we are ready to put on a show. This probably sounds ridiculous, but it is 100% true.
