When we arrive at the venue we get all our gear on stage. After everything is installed we try to be very concentrated during the soundcheck. Every hall has a different vibe and sound. As our music can be very mood-driven, it’s important for us to get a good feeling about the venue. That’s why we like to play some songs fully without the audience.
After the soundcheck, we all eat together, drink a coffee and rest for a while.
It’s always a great feeling when you hear the crowd enter the venue. Suddenly there’s an atmosphere of excitement and activity. You feel something is going to happen.
During the opening act, we often sneak into the hall to watch the performance and to see how the audience is doing. Just like the soundcheck, we like to spend some time in the crowd to get a connection.
After we’ve watched a couple of songs of the opening act, we go backstage again. Right before the show, we stand in a circle like football players before a game. We look at each other and then one of the violinists’ yells: “Are we ready to rock?”, which is pretty contradictory for a violinist to say maybe but it works for us. We all yell: “Yeah!” and then we’re going on stage.
