Our dream tour would have twenty one pilots, ODESZA, The Notorious B.I.G.
We saw twenty one pilots open for Juicy J when they were still coming up. Almost immediately they won over all the Juicy J fans, who joined in singing with the twenty one pilot’s fans. It was such a weird and unique experience. Their music fits in almost every genre. Tyler raps and has hip-hop and reggae influences in some of his songs, while other songs feel like throwback Blink-182 songs mixed with electronic. It’s incredible. We grew up in Ohio and actually went to high school parking lot concerts that twenty one pilots put on when they were still super small. I remember seeing them play a 1,000 person show in Columbus and thinking how big they had become. A year later they were playing 20,000 person shows. They’re our favorite live act, hometown heroes, and can fit with any style of music.
ODESZA is our favorite live electronic show. Our friend recently signed with their label, Foreign Family, so we flew out to New York to watch ODESZA live to celebrate. The energy their show has is incredible. I’ve never felt more alive than when I’m at an ODESZA show. Imagine ODESZA playing on our Dream Tour and Josh Dunn (twenty one pilots) comes out and drums during one of their songs song. The hype and energy would be unbelievable. ODESZA also has a lot of really pretty and emotionally touching songs which are important to us. ODESZA might be our biggest influence in terms of creating electronic music. We’ve spent hundreds of hours listening to them. They’re one of the biggest and most important acts in music right now.
If it’s our Dream Tour, then why can’t Biggie Smalls come back to life and put on the greatest show on earth? I love when electronic music mixes with hip-hop so having him follow ODESZA would be the best experience ever. Tyler and Biggie could rap together while Josh plays the drums with ODESZA putting together an amazing mix of the artists for the closing song. Plus, Biggie knew how to have a good time. The after parties to our Dream Tour would be legendary. His sense of humor really seems to fit twenty one pilots’ sense of humor so I think behind the scenes during the shows would be hilarious. Biggie also has really touching lyrics and songs. His performances feel so honest. We’ve been dying to start having hip-hop influence some of our songs. Having Biggie on a Dream Tour with us would allow us to pick his brain non-stop and learn everything about hip-hop.
