I make sure that I’m attending a concert at least once a month, so envisioning a “dream tour” isn’t hard for me at all. I think live music is magic. The best tours, to me, are always tours that artists go on riiiiight before they “blow up” if you know what I mean. There’s something so fun about getting to brag like “yeah, I saw Taylor Swift (or whoever it is) at The Basement East in Nashville before she was huge” or something like that haha. So I think my dream tour would be in like, 500 capacity rooms in a bunch of cities around the U.S. Those are always so intimate and special. Those are venues where it feels like the artist is truly seeing you and connecting with you.
My dream tour would also have to have a dream lineup. I grew up being so inspired by female musicians; Shania Twain, Taylor Swift, etc. Then in my teen years, I was obsessed with bands: The 1975, Coldplay, LANY. All these artists only became more special when I saw them in concert. I’d want the lineup to be a crazy mix of everything I loved growing up, and current artists I love now.
My dream tour lineup would include Maisie Peters, Holly Humberstone, and me, and then somewhere in my set I’d bring up Matty Healy from the 1975 and Shania Twain for a different song. A weird mix, but I think the fans at the shows would love it. Shows that I drive home from being like “oh my gosh, that was the best show ever” are the ones where I could tell the artist was just like… I’m having the time of my life, I have these cool ideas for my tour, and I’m just gonna do them. I’d wanna emulate that.
The best feeling in the world is being in a room full of people singing the same song at the same time. Accessing that feeling would make any tour a dream. One of my favorite quotes is by Dave Grohl. “That’s one of the great things about music. You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they’ll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons.” As long as I get to experience THAT, that’s my dream tour.
