In this Preshow Rituals segment, the pop duo, High Dive Heart, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.
Playing live is so exciting and it’s such an outpouring of energy and emotion. We try to be as peaceful and calm as we can be before we play. Two things we love to do are sip tea and hang out with people we love. The more comfortable you feel before you go on stage, the more relaxed you’ll be playing. Stress is a bad vibe and our goal is to spread joy and love, so we need to be happy and loving when we play. We don’t have any strange superstitions or anything like that, we just try to keep it as mellow as possible. Like sloths before the storm, or something like that.
Sometimes when we’re on tour with other artists we’re friends with, we make crazy shenanigans to stay entertained, like having Nerf gun fights or building booby-traps or pulling pranks. The road can be monotonous so doing whatever you can do to have fun is important. We always try to be on the road with people who are as outrageous as us and like to have a good time while we’re on and off stage.
We also try to drink as much water as possible. Dehydration is a devastating problem and we’ve had to go to the hospital after shows before because of it. Honey and hot water help sooth our throats after weeks of singing. Naps are the most important thing in the whole touring world. The more you sleep, the more energy you’ll have for the show. And we want to go wild!!
