Hollywood Undead Winter Headline Tour – REVIEW

Here is our review of Hollywood Undead’s recent Chicago show at The Bottom Lounge as a part of their winter headline tour. You can check out the review after the break.

Ninety minutes is not enough to experience the lyrical, fast spitting rhymes that make up Hollywood Undead. It was packed at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago for their sold out show. Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed was the different range of age groups in attendance, from younger kids to older adults. With three studio albums under their belt, their latest one released just a week ago, Hollywood Undead’s fan base is definitely still strong in support.

With no opener, they jumped right into their set with “Undead”.  They came on stage wearing their new masks from their album, Notes from the Underground, which included different variations of gas masks and other kinds of masks, while some had lights that shone through. After though, they took off the masks and continued playing nonstop, keeping the crowd energized playing songs such as “Bottle and a Gun”, “Young”, “California”, “My Town”, “Been to Hell”, “Another Way Out”, “Dead Bite”, and dedicated “Paradise Lost” to the fans overseas, who couldn’t be there that night. Between some songs they would banter with the crowd and encouraged them to sing along. The crowd though, needed no encouragement, starting mosh pits and backing them up, pumping their fists to the music as one. After they tore up the stage with “Hear Me Now”, they left with everyone chanting encore. The lights were out and after a few minutes, all you heard was the first few lines of “Everywhere I Go”. Everyone cheered as they came back on stage to perform their most well-known song and then ended the night with their newest song “We Are”. While they performed it showed in their faces how comfortable they were on stage and how much they loved being up there.  They also came out afterwards to meet fans, sign stuff, and take pictures. Daren even backstage to bring out more drumsticks to sign and give to fans.

All I can say is if you have the chance to spend the night rocking out with these guys, you really do not want to miss your chance to do so. They have come a long way musically, maturing but still having the Hollywood Undead lyrics people know and love, and I applaud them.
