I AM HORUS

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the progressive metal band, I AM HORUS, shares one of their stories from being on the road. You can check out the story, after the break.

Back in 2012 we toured throughout the summer, playing at a decent amount of festivals, including Hovefestivalen in Norway. Our concert took place at the beginning of it, so we decided to stay throughout the festival to catch all the bands and have a good time. When the festival was over, we were scheduled to head home early so we had to leave during the night. We booked a boat to the mainland and came ashore the small city of Arendal. The train station was not too far away from the docks, so we decided to travel through the city by foot, but we had a few hours to kill first. As we were walking towards a 7-Eleven we came across a strange man, with tattoos all over his body, including his face, one of which read ‘Devil Inside’, right on his forehead. He was waving us over, eager to have a chat. The man was clearly on something, but seemingly calm, and us being a bunch of intoxicated teenagers we decided to have a chat with this shady character. After a couple minutes of normal conversation things started to get interesting, as he told us about having sex with a possessed lady with cat eyes from Trondheim, who’s spirit apparently kept haunting him, and him of course being possessed by the devil. Trondheim is also near where most of us lived at the time, so he seemed to find us interesting, but we were hungry and eventually grew tired of him and had to move on. We walked up to the 7-Eleven ready to get something to eat, and the five of us geniuses decided to place most of our gear outside before entering. I mean, it’s Norway, nothing bad is going to happen, right? And alas, when we came back outside again most of our equipment, except the instruments we kept on our backs, were stolen. We stood there perplexed and silent for a quick second, before feeling pretty damn stupid and angry at the same time. We gathered our thoughts, and luckily found that the local police station was not far. A couple of us headed over to report what had happened, while the rest went out searching for the man with the Devil Inside tattoo. Explaining what had happened to the police officer, and that we thought we knew who was responsible, she asked how he looked. I’ll never forget the look on her face when we mentioned the “Devil Inside” tattoo on his forehead. And then when the police moved out armed to the teeth at the mention of this man, we realized it was probably best we didn’t get the chance to handle it ourselves. This man was a wanted felon.
