Hydra Melody – TOUR TIPS

This set of Tour Tips was written by the alternative rock band our of San Antonio, TX, Hydra Melody. You can check out the tips after the break.

1. Keep the van (semi) clean! We know its going to a little messy in your home away from home, but occasionally cleaning it goes a long way. Doing a Clorox wipe down of the inside is also a must! It can be the deciding factor in getting sick on the road (and then potentially spreading it to the whole band). Also, hand sanitizer! (3 for 1 tip)

2. Petition friends, family and fans to give you a “Bon Voyage” with baked goods (lets get real, ANY kind of foods). It will save you money right at the start of your tour, and if you’re going for at least a month, a few days or even a week of food can help you save money for down the road! Drinks and water are great too! It may not be the healthiest of options, but if that’s your bag, do some jumping jacks while you pump gas!

3. Always be conscious about your equipment and belongings. It only takes a few seconds to grab your Macbook or guitar, or worse, the whole van! Always keep it in sight (especially at hotels/motels) and if you can, insure your equipment, it will be worth it in the long run, and gives you a better sense of security as for as your stuff goes!

4. Maintenance of your vehicle and trailer is important. Always check the tires and fluid levels. Plan for oil changes, and regular maintenance  Be pro-active about that and it can save you HUGE hassles in the long term! No ones wants to spend a day in a random town due to maintenance troubles (though it happens!)

5.Give 110% and leave it all on the stage. You never know who is watching you and how many fans you can gain in a city so you might as well bust your butt night after night, I mean that’s what we are all on the road for! To perform and leave a lasting impression on people. Rock and Roll!
