Idle Frets – DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the indie rock band, Idle Frets, let you know who they would like on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out the feature, after the break.

Ben: My choice would be The Kooks. Growing up, they were a band that massively inspired me to want to take on music as a career. Luke as a frontman is incredible, a great watch for anybody. Not only that but they’ve been a touring band for over a decade now, they know the ropes, they know all the good KFC spots on the road and for that reason, I think we would learn a hell of a lot from them! Banger after banger.
Dave: First up would be Joe Cocker (circa Woodstock 1969). In my opinion, this is one of the best artists in the world in his prime. Who wouldn’t want to listen to a mumbling Joe absolutely tripping his nuts off on acid delivering the most soulful passionate performances of all time? Biblical stuff. Next up; Vulfpeck bringing the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk for two hours straight. Complete with solo performances by Theo Katzman and Joey Dosik. That’s a game winner. I dare you to not enjoy it. Finally, I would have Sly and the Family Stone to deliver a nonstop party of soul funk and disco, complete with a guest appearance from Parliament for a side of P Funk! For the headliner, I would enjoy it if Colonel Sanders would feed me fried chicken whilst singing medleys about his favourite KFC box meals.
Luke: My dream tour line up goes a little something like this. To start the night off I’d have something that will really tickle your taste buds. Bombay Bicycle Club will take to the stage, playing banger after banger in order for shapes to be thrown. ‘I had the blues but I shook them loose’ is one of my favourite albums of all time and this is a band full to the brim of class musicians, they always did put on a stunning show. Next, up, it’s Happy Hour, drinks are now 2-4-1 and Hall and Oates bring non-stop pop hits. It all starts with a low mist covering the stage floor, blackout lights and then out of nowhere a spotlight shines down and there’s the bassist starting the set with ‘I can’t go for that’ (Cee Lo Green guest appearance). Headliners would have to be Arctic Monkeys. They’re the reason I picked up an instrument and I firmly believe they’re not capable of a bad tune. I’d say the set would be 70/30 in favour of b-sides, too.
Erin: My dream line up would have funky stages, preferably be an outside tour with as many fairy lights as possible everywhere. Flyte would open the show, everyone with a pint in their hands as the sun goes down and everyone sings along a warming brilliant show opener. Followed by a true indie classic band, The Kooks to start the party mood, banger after banger. Never played a bad set, getting everyone in the mood with their anthems. Followed by the penultimate act of the night, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls. Words don’t need to explain why the most amazing man who appeals to the masses! And the best show closer; in my eyes will always be Biffy Clyro. In the dark, an incredible light show, the best vocals you’ve ever heard coming from the crowd, a VERY long set to go with all their incredible albums, leaving no one disappointed they’d not heard their fave song!
