We have some very eclectic tastes so a dream tour for us would be bringing together some different styles and genres. It would also have to include artist that have made a big impact and stood the test of time. Also, we like to think BIG! For us, these artists would make the most sense…..
First, and most obvious choice, QUEEN (Freddie Mercury): Are you serious?? How can you NOT have them on a dream tour? Of course, I’m talking about the original line-up. Not saying Brian May doesn’t count for a whole lot of what made up Queen, but Freddie had such an incredible presence on stage. His vocal has got to be one of the most epic voices in rock history. A lot of their music has been inspiring for musicians everywhere, including us. From their monster hooks to their everlastingly memorable songs. What impresses us most about them is their ability to be such a heavy hitting (almost metal-ish) band while still remaining so pop-sensible. It’s a hard thing for a lot of bands to achieve.
2nd, BOB MARLEY: The king of good vibes himself. There are so many good things to say about Bob Marley as a person, but his music was and is equally or more amazing. Like we said, we like eclectic. Why not throw in a little reggae to mix it up? Bob Marley’s music made an impact on us because he had such an uplifting message along with great melodies. I don’t know many people who don’t immediately feel better when listening to him.
3rd, THE EAGLES: Two words: HOTEL CALIFORNIA. Could it be the best song ever written? Well, it’s certainly up there. It’s still a very relevant song to us anyways. I’d also say this band is probably the most relevant to our sound. They bridged soft rock, rock, and country music together so nicely. We take some influence from that. Don’t forget about those amazing harmonies as well of theirs too. Another thing we are big fans of, if ya can’t tell.
Last, but not least, DAVID BOWIE: The innovator himself. Not to mention, just a cool dude. This guy managed to blend genre after genre over his long and hugely successful career. Somehow he was able to be weird and yet so accessible at the same time. I mean the guy has a ton of hits too! Young Americans, Rebel Rebel, Starman, Space Oddity, and so many more. Could you imagine shouting those at the top of your lungs at a live performance? We could.
Honorable mention, THE BEATLES: Maybe a little too obvious.
