jan. - DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the alternative emo band, jan., reveals who they would want on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks below:

Deftones
Perhaps the perfect blend of soft beauty and angry heaviness. The way Deftones manage to seamlessly weave a whirlwind of conflicting sounds into a coherent piece of art has greatly motivated us to write in a way that isn’t constricted. Our rhythm guitarist, Jacob, states that Deftones helped him move on from his "skull yeah" phase in his early teens by opening him up to heavy music with a vulnerable, melodic soft side. And, funny enough, our drummer, Cooper (who wasn't really into heavier music when he joined) found Deftones instrumental in his journey into that genre. I think that’s the beauty of Deftones: by balancing softness with heaviness so perfectly, they appeal to many, regardless of taste. We recommend listening to the album Diamond Eyes.

Title Fight
Title Fight is a band we appreciate immensely, as their sound—a perfect mix of raw emotion and powerful songwriting—resonates with who we are and who we aspire to be. Their intricate, changing rhythms, simple yet emotion-filled guitar work, thought-provoking yet relatable lyrics, and screams that hit just the right spot in our brains—there isn’t one thing they do that isn’t perfect. Whenever a Title Fight track comes on, it’s a breath of fresh air; it’s real, it’s raw, and it just gets you. It’s sadly true that the band has parted ways, but perhaps a reunion tour someday, haha. We recommend listening to the album Shed.

Fleshwater
A more recent band, Fleshwater shares many of the perfect elements found in the bands we've already mentioned, especially reminiscent of Deftones. They are about to embark on their first Australian tour, and when it was announced, we were all fanboying hard. Half of us were lucky enough to catch them at Outbreak Fest in England last year, which was surreal. We recommend listening to their song "Kiss The Ladder" and their song "Enjoy," which is a cover of Björk (an artist our vocalist, Jake, and our drummer, Cooper, are both obsessed with).
