Jay’s Dream Tour
If I could put together a dream tour lineup, it would be myself, PJ Morton, and John Legend.
I would start the show as the new/developing artist. My hope would be that my music and energy would convert a few new fans. I’ve always thought it would be great to be that opening act that steals the show. I wouldn’t want to step on any toes, but I’d absolutely want to leave my mark.
PJ Morton would have the second spot in the lineup. I got the chance to see him live in Brooklyn once at the Okay Space. He was just as amazing live as he is on record. His band is so locked in and just has so much fun on stage. Not mention, he’s an amazing vocal talent. I like to think of him as our generation’s Stevie. I think many would agree.
John Legend would headline because that’s been a lifelong dream of mine. Ever since I heard Ordinary People, I knew I wanted to share a stage with him. I saw John live in Salt Lake City in 2013 and it was incredible. I mean… it’s one thing to sound great live, but another to sound even better live than the record! There’s a quality to his voice that can only be appreciated in concert. I’ve looked up to John for so many things: writing, his playing abilities, vocals, and the way he conducts himself in the media. It’d be a dream to play together.
Ashley’s Dream Tour
I LOVE TOURING! I just finished my first tour and I loved it. It’s exhausting but exhilarating and I want to do it for the rest of my life. A lot of people ask me what my dream tour would be and who would be on the line-up. I’d love to start off by getting an opening slot on a tour so I can continue to get experience touring and take notes from whoever is headlining the tour. One thing I love about this industry is that every artist is an individual and unique in their own way and there’s something you can learn from everyone. I’m inspired by so many artists, so I’d love to open for an artist I love to see in action, on and off stage, and soak up every bit of knowledge and experience as possible. A few artists I’d love to tour with:
1. HER – She is already a legend and she’s only 22. Her voice is insane, she writes her own music, plays pretty much every instrument, is a fashion icon, has a polished sound and an established brand – she’s the total package and she’s ONLY 22. I can’t wait to watch her career continue to explode and would love to learn from her firsthand.
2. Kevin Garrett – his music speaks to my soul. He is so poetic and creates so much imagery in his writing and his production style is one of my favorites. He is a master at intentionally using sounds, instruments, and his voice to perfectly create music that to me captures what feelings sound like. Also his live performance sounds just as good, if not better, than his recordings.
3. Andy Grammer – He is the king of up-beat, positive, feel-good music that is truly inspiring. It’s hard to consistently write uplifting and positive music without crossing into “cheesy” territory, but he has somehow mastered it and just keeps getting better. I’ve opened for him a few times and he and his band are just as genuine, kind, cool, and fun to be around off stage as they appear to be on stage. They put on such an incredible live show and captivate the audience in such a positive and uplifting way that is really inspiring to me. I’d love to be around that and have some of that good energy rub off on me and translate into my live show.
4. Emily King – She is a goddess is in every sense of the word. She is an artist that I always go back and listen to. Her music is incredible, her production is next level, and her live-show is UNREAL. She is an artist that I am continually inspired by, and also just a human being that I am continually inspired by.
Once I’m doing my own headlining tour, I’d love to bring an up and coming artist that inspires me. I also want to have a local opener in every city I play to give local artists an opportunity to play on stage for their community. Artists have done that for me in the past and I’d love to give other artists that same opportunity.
