San Francisco (tour diary part 2)

After a great show in Bend, we drove nine hours to arrive in San Francisco to play at the Milk Bar. Again, we played an intimate show to an appreciative crowd. We actually saw a familiar face or two. Our friend Samantha Feldman from Vancouver was mid-California on her road-trip, so she decided to catch us play. The last time she saw us was the summer of 2009, so she was really excited to see us. Also, our friend Amanda who we met in Spain in November was there to catch our gig at the Milk Bar. It turned out to be what Sly and the Family Stone would refer to as “a family affair.”

Amanda took us out after the show and we went and ate cheap, but amazing Mexican food, as well as had a couple drinks at a really cool bar in the mission area. San Francisco was shaping up to be a really cool town with a really great and fun vibe… and then we got robbed!

So, basically we decided that the morning after the gig we wanted to hang around and be tourists and check out Amoeba Records and get some good San Francisco eats. We parked the enterprise on a nice looking street in the middle of the day and after twenty or thirty minutes of shopping at one of the coolest record stores on the planet, we returned to the enterprise. Her beautiful passenger side window now smashed in. Mine and Graham’s backpacks and therefore laptops and other valuables had been stolen.

Things could’ve been worse as they could’ve taken all our gear and a San Francisco local was very sweet and helpful with replacing the glass and letting us make phonically on his landline. But yeah, it still sucked pretty hard.
