Last year we played around 40 shows trying to build a fan base in the south of England. Some gigs were bad, playing to just a handful of drunken punters who requested “Lady Gaga”, whilst spilling a jug of Sangria over our pedal boards. Other shows were great, like playing Rob da Bank’s Common People festival to several thousand. It was an incredible feeling to look out from the stage and see all those people headbanging to a track they are only hearing for the first time.
There isn’t one particular moment but there a lot of highlights.
Prior to one gig, we popped into the local music shop to pick up some guitar strings. In the shop, we ran into Colin Greenwood of Radiohead and handed him one of our EP’s. He was so humble and told us he was “honored”.
On one occasion we have had two amps blow up on stage, one smoked out the stage and we had to completely cut the song which was very anti-climatic.
I think the craziest thing we have embarked on as a band was shooting our second, yet to be released, music video. Off the back of several dates, we decided to be rather ambitious and hike 8 miles into the Scottish highlands. We camped for 2 nights and had carry enough food for 12 people, alongside all the camera equipment. By the time we had finished hiking in and out, plus all of the running around filming, a couple of us felt we could no longer walk. It was a fun adventure and a great way to end a year’s worth of touring.
