Katherine Fischer – DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the singer-songwriter, Katherine Fischer, reveals who she would want on her ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks, after the break.

It’s so interesting that when you ask me what my dream tour is – so many images came to mind and not all of them were just of people but of places and hosts and venues too.

In my mind what creates a good tour is talented open-hearted artists, beautiful venues, and wonderful thoughtful hosts/venue owners.

My dream tour artists would have to include Sara Bareilles, Carol King & William Prince in a song circle style tour.

Sara Bareilles is the artist I pull the most inspiration from and who honestly I would love to be friends with! Her songwriting is thoughtful and heart-opening and the way she is self-deprecating and funny on stage reminds me a lot of myself. One of my ultimate career goals is to collaborate with her, I think she’s a kind, funny, incredibly talented person who would make you feel so welcomed in a space. So she had to be included in this list.

Next is Carole King, which I don’t think needs too much explaining. Carole is an icon of songwriting and paved the way for women in this business is so many ways. I absolutely love her music and cover many of the songs off of tapestry. I feel like she has so so much wisdom to share and it would be a dream to sit and sing in a room alongside her.

Last but not least is William Prince. I had the absolute pleasure of having William as my mentor at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in 2019 as part of their young performer’s program. William put in so much work to get to where he is and his ability to pull attention to his performance with such softness is unparalleled. He has a gift for storytelling, which I think is a common thread between all of these artists.

If we went on tour I would love for it to be a Nashville style in the round performance where each artist plays a song and then the next and the next. It’s not often done as people really like to perform sets of their songs back to back but I think there’s such magic in song circles that can’t be recreated any other way.

Playing beautiful theatres, eating local food, and singing on stage with all of these artists would be the dreamiest tour I can imagine!
