Keep A Breast Foundation – TOUR TIPS

The non-profit organization, Keep A Breast Foundation, has written a set of helpful Tour Tips that you guys can learn from. You can check them out after the break.

1. Drink Water!! I always carry a reusable Water Bottle and fill up when I get a coffee or food somewhere. (Mine is a Keep A Breast one from Klean Kanteen!) Regardless of which brand you go for, make sure your bottle is free of an organic compound BPA, which is a common additive in some aluminum bottles that can be hazardous to your health.
2. Just 30 minutes of aerobic activity 3-5 times a week can lower the risk of breast cancer by 30 to 50% so make sure to do whatever you can to get a little bit of exercise while on the road. Find common ground with your bus mates. TMaybe Lady Gaga or Taylor swift is your guilty pleasure, or you like hiking. Once you’ve established something to talk about you are guaranteed to be passing the time finding hikes on your days off or having impromptu dance parties. Pass the time, make friends and stay healthy!
3. Pack two pair of headphones. I always seem to never be able to find mine.
4. Eat healthy. Women who eat the most red meat have 88 to 330% higher risk of breast cancer.  Just because you are on the road does it mean you should eat bad food you wouldn’t eat at home. Stock up on organic fruits and veggies  and proteins like almonds for the bus. Try and skip overly processed foods, Go for a salad instead of a refined flour found in white bread.
5. Check your sunscreen – if you are out on the road all day long in the sun make sure to use a Paraben Free Organic Sunscreen.  Parabens is a chemical found in lotions, sunscreens and deodorant. Known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity. This chemical is absorbed in the skin so well  it has been found in most breast tumors! EEK!  Many companies have removed Paraben from their products so check for Paraben Free on the label!
