King The Kid – 1st ROAD BLOG from the “Freaks and Geeks Tour” with Hollywood Ending

The pop rock band, King The Kid, is currently supporting Hollywood Ending on the “Freaks and Geeks Tour.” While they are on this tour, they will be writing a blog for us about their adventures on the road. You can check out the first entry written by the band’s lead singer, David Michael Frank, after the break.

Hello DTB tour diary,
We are currently driving from Vienna, VA to our show in Atlanta, GA. We’ve played 4 shows and are finally starting to get into a groove. Our tourmates are super cool and very welcoming. This is our first tour in our new rig, a 2001 RV. It’s huge and so much more comfortable than touring in a van (or a Toyota, as we’ve done before as well). We have worked our daily routine into a bit of a science, and it is all wrapped around a National Gym chain, Planet Fitness. It is something that all bands need to know about. We each have memberships, allowing us and our crew/extra musicians to workout/shower. After each show, we drive to a P-Fit close to the next venue. We sleep in the parking lot and wake up and get ready in the morning at P-Fit and then head to the venue. We have completely cut out hotel costs, which in the past, really added up.
The live shows have been a blast. Each band we’ve been playing with has their own unique style, which is refreshing. We’ve been writing/recording so much lately that it has inspired a change in our live sound. It’s sorta a rebellion against a trend that is happening to live music. Without going into too much detail… when you see “King The Kid” live, it is 100% live. No backing tracks, no metronomes, etc. Everything real and raw. We’ve found that it is sooo much more rewarding and powerful for our own connection with the music and with the crowd. It is something that has gotten out of hand in the industry, and through the vulnerability of live music, we are becoming a better band every day.
8 shows left on this run! Then back to Florida, then to Australia (and maybe NZ!) then back to the studio then back on tour :)
See you all very soon!
David
