In this Tour Pranks segment, the garage rock band, Kinky Rhino, share some pranks that have happened on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

When done properly, a good prank is a work of art. Subtle. Beautiful. Effective. Anyone can chop the m&m’s out of your hand when you aren’t paying attention, and they can just as easily take a picture of you while you’re sleeping and tag you on Instagram with the caption “don’t say much do ya?” But to let something simmer, to outright confuse your victim, and to potentially embarrass them in front of someone they fancy is the stuff we all strive for.

An unspoken rule in our band is that if you leave your phone laying around, it damn well better be locked. Giving the rest of us access to your Facebook account, texts, Twitter, etc… is essentially asking to be humiliated. You might return to the realization that you have just informed the world of that nasty shart you had in the van, or that you came out of the closet a few minutes ago, but this is still too easy.

The case of our favorite prank comes in the form of autocorrect. One of our guitar players went to the bathroom and broke the unspoken rule, he left is iPhone in the middle of the room, completely unguarded. Rookie mistake. It was only a matter of seconds before a to-remain-unnamed virtual assailant got a hold of the device and began his Monet-esque stroke of subtle genius.

The prank was simple, change the autocorrect settings for the word “lunch.” It seemed boring at the time and we all just kind of shrugged it off and went back to our day. I don’t think we were even aware of what he had changed the settings to replace “lunch” with. Skip forward three or four days and we had all completely forgotten that it even happened until our poor string player went to text a nice lady he met the night before… A simple prank becomes a great one at the exact moment your friend asks a girl if she would like to meet up for some saggy boob. Chef d’œuvre.

Keep up with the band on Facebook and Twitter!
