Laces – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the pop artist, Laces, gives you some advice for being on the road. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Make time for yourself.
I always recommend bringing a foldable yoga mat with you. Being on the road can suck sometimes and it’s hard to find a moment of solo time. By having a mat handy, you can literally unwind, exercise, meditate, whenever/wherever. I like to take a second to stretch before a show to calm my mind.

2. Stock Up.
I’m addicted to all the supplements and for good reason! Head to your local whole foods or acupuncturist and stock up on natural remedies that will keep your body healthy on tour. And if you get sick, you’ll have everything you need to get better quicker.

3. Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff.
Traveling with people with all different personalities isn’t always a walk in the park. Try to be mindful that your bandmates, tour manager, etc… might not always jive well with you. So, take a breath and focus on what you can do to better the situation. Don’t be the problem, try to be the solution.

4. Journal.
I’m super hard on myself if I don’t feel like I nailed a performance. That doesn’t make a healthy environment for my tour-mates or myself. My attitude will darken and then all the sudden I want to quit…etc. Instead of jumping ship, I try to journal my feelings and let it live there. What happened… happened. Time to move on!

5. Be Grateful.
Remember, not everyone gets to do all the cool stuff you do. Sometimes tour can be overwhelming and it’s not glamorous, so it’s easy to forget that you GET TO do something. Try to say “I get to…” instead of “I have to…” – it’s helped keep me from becoming a Tour Monster.
