I’ve had some pretty wild experiences while on tour. I spent 5 + years traveling the world on various contracts. Anytime I go somewhere new I have one rule: get lost.
Here are some highlights:
-got kicked out of the Monserrat in Barcelona for singing secular choir music on Easter Sunday
-got into a fight with Deangelo Williams about veganism and toxic masculinity at the King’s palace in Cairo
-saw the Pyramids, then smoked hash on the Nile
-trecked the Great Wall of China
-hiked 300 steps up donkey-shit mountain in Santorini completely hungover
-tasted the “best pizza in the world” in Napoli
-got a 30 minute glute massage on a nude beach in Rhodes
-woke up in a different timezone every day for 7 months while living on a cruise ship
-ate pan au chocolate on the metro in Nice
-ran 9miles, won a pack of cigarettes playing blackjack with the mafia in Venice, Italy, then smoked them all later by myself
-drank my first scotch in a sex dungeon in Edinburgh
-almost got fired from Disney, fell in love with a man I just met, and moved to Tenerife in one day.
-lived in a 10-person-sleeper-bus for 6 weeks across the US with a closet toilet and no shower
-saw a ghost and Houdini’s original lift built for his “disappearing” act in Macon, GA
-Kissed the Vatican
-lived off of Oreos and peanut butter for 3 weeks and got a parasite from a gas station in the slums of China
-played hide-and-go-seek in a museum with a little girl in Greece
-stumbled into the owner of the most famous theatre in Sicily and wound up singing an Italian aria on Pavarotti’s stage. He didn’t speak a lick of English, but our one word in common was “musica”
Every time I get lost in a new place, I find that we’re not really strangers at all.
