Twenty-four hours before a show I usually have all the logistical things squared away.
My outfit is chosen (which was an ever-changing process), show promotion has had its time to shine and our rehearsals are sounding READY.
The night before I’ll typically forgo staying out late and would rather Netflix and chill (usually reruns of The Office or Seinfeld) and then try to rack those hours of snooze time.
On the day of the show, I honestly try to do as little as possible and treat it more like a self-care day. A favorite! I’ll stretch, do a face mask, drink tea, paint my nails, yoga, shower, relax in general. Then a few hours before soundcheck I’ll write out setlists and on mine will note my talking points. I’ll get my merch together, do about a 30-ish minute vocal warm-up, get dressed and hit the road pumped and ready to get at it!
At soundcheck, I’m getting in the ZONE to make sure everything sounds the way it should for our set time.
If bands are playing prior to my set I always watch, support and dance! It’s like a pre-set pump up! Then it’s go time, I close my eyes, take a deep breath and walk out into the lights.
