In this First Concert Ever segment, indie electronic pop artist, Lieza, reveals the first concert that she ever went to. You can check out her story, after the break.
My first ever concert was the Jonas Brothers on their “When You Look Me in the Eyes” Tour back in March of ’08. I had grown up pretty much exclusively on country music and pop music had always been sort of a secret guilty pleasure of mine. So I’m pretty sure that my soul actually left my body for the entirety of this concert from sheer excitement.
I think this show was one of the first ones where they played “Burnin’ Up” and I still remember the colors of the lights, the pyrotechnics, and the Blue Man Group-esque drum playing as paint flew around the musicians. It was a crazy conglomeration of a well-rehearsed carnival and a beautiful, orchestral, heart-tugging musical.
This was the first time that I saw someone play live music. And I vividly remember crying during one of the piano ballads that night, the realization washing over me that this was something that I wanted to do myself for the rest of my life. So thank you JoBros, I don’t think that I ever considered playing music as a legitimate career until that night.
