Tony:
My first concert…..It was Ice T, the Iceberg Tour, 1990 at the Royal Theatre in Victoria BC. Low Profile, a California-based rap group made up of WC & DJ Aladdin (who had just won the USA DMC championship) opened the show and were joined by a then unknown rapper named Coolio. I remember them throwing CDs out into the crowd and a few people threw them back haha.
At the time of the show, there was a big push with censorship from the US government led by Tipper Gore, demanding that parental advisory stickers be put on CDs with explicit language. Two Live Crew & NWA both had recently been in legal problems with arrests being made after their shows. I was a young kid and was totally overwhelmed when the announcement was made that Ice T had been arrested by the Victoria Police Department. The crowd started booing and throwing things and finally, Ice T revealed himself, proclaiming “Fuck the police” and launching into his first song, Freedom of Speech. It was a night I’ll never forget and I knew at that time I wanted to become and hip-hop DJ when I grew up.
Oh and here’s a pic of Georgia wearing the t-shirt I got that night.

My first concert I thiiiiiiink was Area One Festival in Vancouver BC at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium….The Roots, Outkast, Moby and Nelly Furtado. I actually got so messed up on various substances and have a hard time remembering everything that went down but it was quite a day…I can’t really go into much more detail than that haha.

Keep up with them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
