Week 2:
Chris from Lionize here with a week 2 update. It’s been a busy one with many show highlights. The Streetlight Manifesto tour has been heating up daily. Sunday we played The Norva in Norfolk Va, one of our favorite venues out there. The Streetlight fans were great to us as usual, and Hank beat me in HORSE up on the 3rd floor. After a fantastic show at the Masquerade in Atlanta, the streetlight tour took a day off, but diligent as always we squeezed our way onto the Larry and His Flask show in Jacksonville. It was great to spend the evening with our buddies from the north west, and they killed it as usual. We also got a chance to see Willy Tea Taylor play one if the best solo sets I have ever seen. His record is now on continuous rotation in our van. The Streetlight tour then tore through the Plaza Live in Orlando FL. Killer crowd, great town. Orlando always brings love to the shows no matter who we roll through with. Saturday night we played another one off from the tour. This time headlining at Filthy McNasties pub in Vero Beach. It was an all Maryland evening as good friends from back home Pasadena and the Bumpin Uglies opened the show. It’s always awesome to meet up with bands from our tiny state out there killing it. Big thanks to Nick Novak for throwing us another show and being ever so hospitable in every conceivable way. If every guy who owned a club also played in a band we would live in a much nicer world! Finally the week finishes out with our final show of this leg of the Streetlight tour. The Culture Room in Ft Lauderdale has become our home in south Florida. So much so that we have never even played in Miami proper, and I don’t see any reason to play anywhere else. This was the most receptive audience yet, absolutely nuts from the first note. From here we split off from Streetlight, and our new friends The Chicharones. As I write this we are headed from Ft Lauderdale to Flint Michigan to meet up with the baddest and wickedest living rock and roll band, Clutch! Thanks to Streetlight Manifesto, The Chicharones (see you in Portland!), Larry and his Flask, Willie Tea, Nick Novak and Filthy’s, Ash and The Culture Room, The Sunshine State and sunshine, for a rad week on tour.
Next week: Flint, Joliet IL, Detroit, and on… Stay tuned…
