1. Don’t get too optimistic. You’re probably going to use the port-o-potty 3-4 times per day all summer long. Once for a wardrobe change, a couple times for the Taco Bell you ate last night after the show, and (for single guys) maybe a rendezvous with some lucky lady you met that needs a private spot for some relationship development. God knows it’s way cleaner in there than it is in the van/bus/sprinter/station wagon/whatever you use.
2. Don’t tune your guitar. It’s way more fun to step on-stage for the 4pm Sunday slot at the Arkansas Bacon & Beer Festival and try to read the digital display on your Boss tuner while you’re slightly hungover. Surprise!! The big opening chord you just Pete Townshend your way into the set with sounded like a herd of dying cats. The kids’ll love it.
3. Don’t bring your wallet, phone, shoes, or any cables/picks/etc. Most of these things will disappear once or twice a day anyway. Just save yourself the trouble and leave all these things at home. Just worry about it when you get there.
