My first concert ever was incredibly exhilarating, but also really anxiety-inducing. It was at the Constellation Room in Orange County, CA supporting Transviolet – before that I had only performed at open mics, local gigs, and in school musicals. When I got to the venue I felt fine, but once I changed and put makeup on the weight of the night set in. I remember sitting in the green room feeling so nervous. I was running through every scenario in which I would mess up, or look funny. It wasn’t debilitating nerves or anything serious, but I was still anxious. I would count each and every person that I saw walk into the venue. I would also take a mental note that they were about to watch me possibly mess up or make a fool of myself. However, the second I started performing I felt amazing, and all of the nerves immediately disappeared. Afterwards is easily the best part of any show. I felt so relieved and I was on such a high. The feeling I would compare it to is a “runner’s high,” if you’ve ever experienced that feeling…but I absolutely fell in love with it.
