In this Dream Tour segment, Steve Hewitt, of the rock band, Love Amongst Ruin, shares the acts that they would include on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks, after the break.
To be able to bring a dream tour to life would be the greatest thing for any musician. It’s also a very difficult question as there are so many possibilities to choose from, also in my case I have been fortunate enough to tour with many of my idols over the years – from Bowie, The Cure, The Pixies, REM, Depeche Mode to name but a few.
So for me, I think I would have to choose a band from the past, and that would have to be Led Zeppelin.
I’ve grown up listening to “Zep” and as we all know they are the best rock band in the world, made up of four of the best musicians which absolutely gelled together to become an unstoppable force. Not just on record but with their live performances which for any live band showed how free they could be. Yeah, they played the songs off the album but never the same as the recording, which in essence is what live bands should do and not enough bands do that these days, it’s all too safe.
To go on tour with Zeppelin, I think, would force you to rethink everything you were doing and thought you were doing and it would seriously put a rocket up your ass. I would have loved to have seen them in their heyday and experience that power and I reckon the lessons I could have or would have learned would have been so much more than I’ve learned from their albums, and I learned more from those records than from anything else.
Then of course there would be the after show parties!!!! How much could we all have learned by being around that, first hand? Oh, what fun to be had! So there you go, pioneers in rock and probably some of the greatest days-long parties known to man. What is there not to love and want to be involved in?
