Low Hum – FIRST CONCERT EVER

Low hum, psychedelic pop, interview, first concert ever

Low Hum

In this First Concert Ever segment, psychedelic pop artist, Low Hum, chats about the first concert that he ever went to growing up. You can check out the story, after the break.

I grew up going to a lot of concerts as a kid. Music is such a big part of the culture where I grew up, and it’s also largely Hawaiian music. It’s beautiful and tells so many stories, but there was also a whole world of stuff I didn’t hear from the sheer nature of being on an island. Growing up in Hawaii, outdoor music festivals were something my family did quite often – pretty sure I saw UB40 play when I was about 5 (who I still LOVE btw).  But the first concert that I went to and spent my own money to see was Punk on a Rock 2. It was MY choice.  The line up was Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag and Strung Out.  It was unheard of for these bands to make it to my town, I had only heard their CD’s and occasionally one would pop up on the college radio station.  It completely changed my life seeing these bands bring such charisma to the stage. Their ability to bring people together shook me.  Anti-Flag and Bouncing Souls were the bands that I embraced.  I loved their lyrics and I remember getting my first taste of a mosh pit at this show.  I was completely hooked and It wasn’t until years later I would be able to catch a show like that again.
