Luca Indrio of Acephalix and Vastum – TOUR TIPS

Death metal artist, Luca Indrio of Acephalix and Vastum, has written a set of Tour Tips you guys can learn from. You can check them out after the break.

1. Remember to drink water once in a while and bring a pillow.
2. Ask people if you can crash at their houses as soon as you get to the venue if you don’t have a place to stay already. Later you’ll be drunk or high or tired and people takes off. This is especially valuable when touring the US. In some places people really don`t realize how hard is for bands to get to their stupid town drive 10 hours play a show and leave early in the morning to do the same the day after. You`re not gonna be able to afford an hotel and after the first week of tour have a floor/bed to crash on or not makes a difference. If you can figure out all the sleeping situations before leaving is best.
3. Make sure the promoters actually give a shit about the show or about your band. If the promoter doesn’t care about it you may end up showing up in a place to play a show that hasn’t been promoted at all playing with local nu-metal band that you fucking hate and being around the only 5 idiots who showed up for who knows what reason (baseball game on the bar tv or Bloody Mary happy hour). Contact the local promoters of each show personally especially if is a DIY tour that someone else is booking for you (if that even makes sense). That way you can talk with them, make sure someone is making a flyer etc.. You have to take care about your band first without expecting too much from anybody else, especially people you don’t know. The best shows are when the person who books it really likes your band. That way he/she’s going to promote the shit out of it because he/she wants to have good times with you and he/she wants you to come back in the future.
4. Don’t travel with drugs on you or be ready to put em up your butt. Fuck up a tour that way (busted) sucks.
5. Turn your phone off and turn it back on only when the tour is over.
