My dream tour would have to start with the genius, mysterious sounds of a man whose music, to me, sounds like none other: James Blake.
I just learned that James is 6’5″, so when I come out to sing a sultry, riffy version of “The Wilhelm Scream” with him, I better be wearing massive heels.
After feeling like I could die from such a heavenly experience, I’d rejoin the stage to help Sia sing “Alive” during her set. I feel that song is catchy, powerful, and very underrated. The real highlight of touring with Sia however would simply be getting to tell her how much I love her. She is an experienced, badass songwriter for herself and other artists, who can take a serious, personal theme like “alcoholism” and turn it into a radio pop hit, aka: “Chandelier”. I’ve considered writing her a letter just because I want her to know how I feel. But since I don’t have her address, I guess I’ll have to wait for this tour.
My next two choices would have to be Matt Corby and Florence + The Machine. I have probably listened to Florence’s album “Ceremonials” more times than I’ve heard my own name. I also have her lyrics finger painted all over the walls of my hometown bedroom. Think she’d be cool with redecorating the windows of our tour bus?
Finally, as both an artist and a person, I like to dream big. So if we are going for the full-on fantasy tour- it would end with Matt Corby asking me to marry him, after singing his painfully gorgeous song, “Untitled”. Matt, if you’re reading this- I don’t mind what arrangement you sing. Just bring that sexy grit, dreamy falsetto, and baby blue/green eyes.
Definitely going to keep making music until I can make this dream tour a reality!
