Putting together a dream tour is tough for someone like me, I grew up in pop-punk and ended up playing sad acoustic music so I wouldn’t call myself an ideal fit with some of the artists that inspired me the most as a creator. Perhaps the easiest part is knowing where the routing for said dream tour would go. It would take us all throughout the pacific northwest and across the parts of the US with the best national parks. I’m talking dates all across Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, and all that jazz if there’s a chance for a good hike…I want a date there. I would hope to be playing mostly in listening rooms where the crowds were small but also attentive, interactive, and inquisitive.
When it comes to line up, I’d want two other artists each night… Gregory Alan Isakov and Tash Sultana stripped-down acoustic style. I’d choose Gregory mainly because I’m a total fangirl (and not ashamed of that). His songwriting, voice, and production on his records brings this sort of warmth that not many other artists are able to evoke. Each night getting to hear my favorite songs over and over again would be pretty rad, plus I’ve always dreamed of getting to sing some harmonies on those songs.
The addition of Tash would add an element of groove to a small listening room space, especially since Gregory is more lyrically driven (as am I) it would be cool to have someone who brings more of an element of instrumentation and vibe to a small intimate show space. Plus there is a chance they might even hop on and play some cool solo-y bits over some of my tunes that call for extra noodling. All in all, I would love to listen to two of my favorite artists night in and night out, but I also feel like I’d learn a lot from our time off stage together, they both seem very calm, content, and down to earth…things I really strive to cultivate within my own life.
