Lavish dreams about my first tour would have me playing with Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels and Shawn Mendes on a combo Euro- U.K. itinerary. I’ve had some recent uptake in Sweden and Germany from Spotify editorial playlists and I’d love to expand and support that listener base throughout Europe.
Ed Sheeran has been a direct influence on my writing, performance and lyrical styles. It was super exciting to record my debut album this past summer at Sticky Studios in the U.K., where Ed did his earlier ones. The way that he develops his stories by taking us on a lyrical rollercoaster is so uniquely him. His strengths as a solo artist in a world of bands is inspiring! Imagine. I could challenge him to a “looper pedal off”. He’d kick my ass but it would be fun trying to keep up.
Julia Michaels represents strength, honesty, and vulnerability to me. She isn’t afraid to be super personal in her music and to challenge herself with things that give her anxiety and I relate to that. More than anything I love her collaborative writing spirit!
Fellow Canadian, Shawn Mendes, demonstrates that it’s possible as a Canadian artist to break out. I have always loved his creative and easily recognizable bass lines and the fact that he’s co-written with Julia would create not just the dream performance team but the dream writing team too while on the road. He’d also really understand my obsessive need to apologize.
That’s the dream pop singer-songwriter team right there.
No tour, however, would be complete without my two rescue pit bulls. They are my comfort and my breath and as much as I may have rescued them from Puerto Vallarta and Los Angeles, they continue to rescue me daily. I mean…while I’m dreaming.
