Magic Giant – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the folk revival band, Magic Giant, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Calm before the storm.

Magic Giant always meet up 20 minutes before 20 minutes before the show. This gives us time to get through the crowd, give all the hugs we want, and still have time to warm up and have some peaceful time to meditate and sing. We usually warm up with our song “Love Or Die” which has a quiet harmony section that’s great for vocal exercises.

We used to have to find quiet spots wherever we could. Sometimes backstage is too hectic so we would go into a back alley behind the venue, we’ve even hidden in bathrooms to find some peace and enough quiet to warm up. One time when we first formed the band we were hiding in a bathroom stall together and fans kept coming in the bathroom and finding us singing! Luckily we just got a bus that is totally tinted out, soundproofed and solar powered, so it’s always comfortable and quiet. This Solar Powered bus had changed the game for us. We can record in it pre-show and always have a home base on the road. Our shows are super high energy, somewhat sweaty events so it’s great to be able to chill before the show and be able to change after before hanging with friends and fans.
