Prepare for Your Gig Like Manta
So you’re about to play a show.
Step 1: You’ll want to begin by sending a stagehand into the crowd and retrieve a suitable candidate to act as the evening’s sacrifice (whom we offer on this day to appease whatever god, deity or ethereal being you confide in).
Step 2: Once the sacrifice has been escorted backstage and prepped for the ritual, your drummer, acting as master of ceremonies, shall prepare to remove the heart. At this point, the rest of the group should be engaged in a low, rhythmic chant.
Step 3: Your drummer will begin to remove the heart. By now you should be standing and your group’s chanting should grow to an intense swell. Flail your limbs and let your body gyrate uncontrollably. Now you’re feeling loose.
Step 4: With the heart now removed, clench your fists and take a full body breath. Fill yourself up from your nose to your toes and when it feels right to unleash a deafening collective yell (tip: try a high-pitched screech). This is the big finish so don’t be afraid to really give it some gusto.
Congratulations. You’re ready to perform.
