I’m not sure how crazy our stories are, but we’ve got a few. Back when the band was just getting started, we were limited to one of our member’s mom’s bright purple minivan. To top it off she ran a daycare and had a cutesy kid friendly name plastered on the side. We’d roll into a tough looking bar or something and all have to muster all of our manliness to be taken seriously. I remember we once played the main stage of a major festival and had to convince the security guy that we were actually the band. After we got in we had a good laugh as we parked alongside two MASSIVE tour vans, both for the headliner. Eventually, we got a real van, but we’ll always think fondly of the “Periwinkle Princess.”
Our old bass player once said on stage that one of our other members was a young Dutch boy, who knew zero English. Obviously, it was a lie, but a lot of people didn’t catch the joke. They continued the ruse the rest of the night. He’d say some nonsense, and she’d “translate” as they talked with people. Then like a year later after a show this random guy comes up and talks to us and says “Wow, your English has gotten so good! I don’t even hear an accent anymore.” and we had all long forgotten about that joke. It took us a second, but eventually we caught on and kept it going. I don’t know if the other guy ever caught on.
