Martinez – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, indie pop duo, Martinez, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1) Give and share:
Don’t forget you are here for the people. Try to know a few words to great your audience in their own language, know their town or city. Share a real moment with them because they are your new friends. This will be much more enjoyable and fulfilling for you too!

2) First impression:
Never forget the people might see you and hear your music for the first time. Make sure they can hear you well and that the vibe on stage convey the image of your band that you want people to see.

During soundcheck, get down the stage and look at it from the audience perspective. Make adjustment as needed whenever possible.

3) Local Promo:
Always make sure local radios, newspapers and bloggers are aware of your venue prior to your arrival, invite them to your concert and hopefully they will feature your music or an interview of you.

4) Equipment:
There are many things on tour on which you have no control, but your equipment isn’t one of them. Having a spare guitar, set of strings, drum sticks, symbols, carry your own microphone etc. can be a life saver. All those things you can afford and that don’t take too much space is worth taking with you.

5) The Wise Word:
Be professional, but don’t take yourself too seriously.
