Memphis May Fire Summer Headline Tour – REVIEW

On Memphis May Fire’s Summer Headline tour they came to Mojoes in Joliet. You can check out our review after the break.

I had the opportunity to go out to Mojoe’s in Joliet, Illinois to see Memphis May Fire as they played a few solo tour dates (while they took a break from the All Stars Tour) and it was quite an amazing show. I have never seen Memphis May Fire live before, so I really had no idea what to expect. The venue was decently filled with about 150+ kids anxiously waiting for their set to start. They had begun to start setting up and soundchecking their instruments and the audience was already getting pumped up. The band gave the thumbs up signal, the lights dimmed, the crowd cheered, and it was party time. They had opened with “Be Careful What You Wish For” and filled the room with an unbelievable amount of energy. I could feel every single thump of the bass drum and once a bass drop hit, I could feel it shake every bone in my body. I had looked over into the crowd and the middle opened up so quickly like a ripple effect in a pond. Kids were going absolutely crazy for them, it was absolute chaos in the pit. They had kept the energy high and mosh pit full of life, throughout the entire set. Halfway through, they played “The Victim”, which was one of the songs I was looking forward to. Once the chorus hit, it had almost every single person in the room singing it, drowning out Matt, the vocalist’s own voice. One of the things, I definitely loved watching was the band’s stage presence as a whole. Everything was in sync and timed and just looked so clean on stage, there wasn’t a single moment where they were just standing still, they were up on their feet and jumping the whole time, which kept the crowd doing the same. At the end of their set, the crowd has chanted for one last song. Their vocalist, Matt came out and had asked the crowd if they wanted to hear another song and the crowd screamed with a roar and they proceeded to close off the night with “Action/Adventure”. Overall, this band definitely blew me away with their tight musicianship and high energy. If you have never had the chance to catch Memphis May Fire live, I advise you to before the chance slips away.
