Micky James – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the alternative rock artist, Micky James, shares one of his stories from being on the road. You can check out the story, after the break.

I’m not sure if I would consider this a ‘crazy’ tour story, but me and my band were on a week-long regional run this past spring. It was one of the last nights of the tour in my home city, which is New York City. It was a big show for as us so many friends, family, fans, and labels came out to see me. As a frontman, I like to bring a level of theatricality to the performance and to my outfit on stage. I think the pants I was wearing that night were out to get me. So, to enter the stage at the venue we were playing you have to walk through the audience and walk up these two tiny steps, duck under one of the PA speakers to walk on. Instead of me casually walking up those two steps, I decided to run while ducking under the speaker. The extravagant flared pants I was wearing got in the way of my foot and the steps, which led me to faceplate right onto the stage. I’d consider it the most embarrassing scenario that has happened to me to be during a show. Luckily, it was very dark and I don’t believe anyone noticed because when I hit the stage (literally) I was waiting for a reaction from the crowd, but got nothing. I guess I was in the clear? Anyway, I’d say that was my most wild experience on tour.
