Middle Part - FIRST CONCERT EVER
Join us as Middle Part shares the story of his first concert.
In this First Concert Ever segment, the alternative/indie artist, Middle Part, talks about the story of his first experience with live music. You can check out the story below:
My first concert was Modest Mouse at the Ryman in Nashville, TN. I must’ve been a sophomore in high school because my mom had to drive us from where we lived in Alabama, bless her soul. She even decided to just chill in the car the entire concert while my teenage self was experiencing deafeningly loud live music for the first time. It’s no overstatement, it changed my life. I saw that show and automatically knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. I started a band pretty immediately afterwards with my besties, and that was the first of many. I even saw them play again at that same venue about 8 years later. Time is a flat circle.
Middle Part started out as a project amidst the pandemic, and now after developing our live show in NYC we’re beginning to go out on the road which is really exciting! Our sound definitely matured as we played more and more outside of the bedroom-studio environment, and I think it really informed the sound of our new record “Disruptor”. I’m grateful to play anywhere, but I’d say that the venue on my bucket list has got to be Red Rocks. From the photos I’ve seen, it seems like a legendary place to play.
Touring does seem to be tougher and tougher these days based on recent headlines alone. Bands that I grew up listening to are saying they can’t afford to do it which is disappointing. Live music is important. The only other time I’ve toured was when I was in a previous band. We booked two weeks around the southeast, and I’m amazed we broke even. I have no idea how we did it. I don’t think we played to more than ten people at any one show, but it still remains as some of my favorite memories.
