Mikey Wax – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the pop rock artist, Mikey Wax, gives you his tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Get friendly with the Priceline app. The Priceline negotiator has been extremely handy for me in finding a quality cheap hotel for the night. If you book the day of you can usually get a good price. I might also add it adds entertainment bidding for a hotel – a good way to kill some time on a long drive. I’ve found the key is to aim for 3-star hotels with free breakfast, wifi, and parking. 4-star hotels can be tempting especially if they’re cheap, but they usually charge for all those amenities!

2. Starbucks – get used to their coffee if you don’t like it already. It’s usually the most consistent and easy caffeine stop you can make in random areas of the country – unless you’re feeling adventurous you can always yelp a good local coffee place.

3. Howard Stern – on long drives I became a big Howard stern fan cause he’s on the air for 4 hours straight. I highly recommend listening if you’re not a fan. He has interesting interviews and can usually make a dull drive entertaining.

4. Days off are tempting to just do nothing but I’ve usually found that the most memorable parts of a tour (besides the shows and meeting fans) are the activities you decide to do on your off days. Find the best local restaurants, pubs, activities and give it a shot. It provides good content for your fans too on social media aside from just show pics.

5. Always plan to get to the venue early. Whatever can go wrong usually will.

6. Last, I’d like to note that McDonald’s grilled chicken sandwiches have greatly improved, and a box of cliff bars in the van is usually a good move too!
