Model Aeroplanes – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the indie pop band, Model Aeroplanes, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Obviously playing live is such a huge part of being in a band and being on tour is one of our favorite things to be on. We start off with five straight hours of sitting around after soundcheck, on Tinder. In close pursuit is the booze, we like a couple to take the edge off. Not to be mistaken with doubles that blow your head off.

Once we’re feeling as cheery as a Santa in your local shopping center, we begin the vocal warm ups. We do our usual scales, “ohhh’s” and “eee’s” and then completely counteract it all by having another beer and pre-stage chain smoking.

Feeling relaxed is super important to us, any bad vibes can do one! We’ve no real superstitions but we do like a solid huddle right before stage time. Doesn’t matter if we’ve just met you or we’ve known you for years, if you’re about, you’re in the huddle. People think we’re really hospitable and warm for this but really we just spend that much time with each other we like to indulge in outside human contact, if only for a short while.

We could probably it a bit better, but we have fun.
