In this Dream Tour segment, the alternative country band, Morganway, let you know who they would like on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out the feature, after the break.
While we all love country music, rock music, folk music and everything in-between, we come from slightly different places musically. Our dream tours are always going to be different. Still, in approaching this task we’ve been set by the wonderful folks at Digital Tour Bus, and in the spirit of democracy, often impossible in bands, we’ve each put forward a name for our ‘collective dream tour’… except Callum who’s been greedy and picked three!
Kieran Morgan, electric guitar
CHOICE: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
My brother and I have a similar taste in music, and while this is my choice I know it would be on his list, too. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers would be incredible to tour with, and I’d just love to have a few beers with Tom and Mike (Campbell) after the show. They take such a vast guitar collection on the road, it would be amazing to have a go on some of those beasts that helped write my favorite songs.
Simon Tinmouth, drums
CHOICE: Dolly Parton
My dream tour would have featured Prince, another awful and shocking loss we’ve been through this year. He was the greatest guitar player and the most incredible showman. Still, we must celebrate the living, so I’m going go with Dolly Parton. She is one of a kind and I would love to have a cup of tea with her!
Matthew Brocklehurst, keys
CHOICE: The Cat Empire
For me, it has to be The Cat Empire. They are incredible live; it always feels like a party. Plus their keyboard player, Ollie McGill is a big inspiration to me. Hands down, touring with them would be a dream.
Yve Mary B, vocals
CHOICE: Cyndi Lauper
Cyndi Lauper. Not only because of her amazing creative flair, but she is on the ball. She works so hard in everything she does – recording, tech, production – she just gets her ideas down and she collaborates so beautifully. She rocks, man!
Callum Morgan, vocals, acoustic
CHOICE: Bruce Springsteen, The Hold Steady, Ryan Adams…
Bruce Springsteen shows are like a right of passage for the soul. To share that every night, and maybe a few beers after… I also would love to tour with The Hold Steady, like Springsteen, Craig Finn is a lyrical genius. I know we would all love to hit the road with Ryan Adams – he’s one cool dude just doing his thing and smashing it time and time again. Can I choose all three? I’m going to choose all three…
In conclusion, the Morganway Dream Tour is as follows (in most likely playing order):
The Hold Steady
The Cat Empire
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band
At this rate, it may constitute a festival more than a tour, but whatever is, it would be nothing short of incredible.
