The metal band, Oceans of Slumber, just finished up their North American tour dates with Evergrey, Voyager and Borealis. They did an exclusive blog for us while on this tour. You can check out the first blog, with photos, after the break.
This is Cammie with Oceans of Slumber. Here is our first entry designated for 9/1/15.
“Kicking off the Evergrey – North American tour in Chicago, we’ve quickly found our footing and the revelry has begun. With no shortage of shit talking and Tom-foolery, formalities have quickly fallen to the wayside and fart jokes reign.
Infused with the long road, our playlist includes:
Rainbow – Everything ( Richie Blackmore is God and Dio), Deep purple -Burn, Mercenary- 11 Dreams,
Evergrey- Torn/ Hymns for the Broken/ Glorious Collision, Anathema- We’re Here Because We’re Here, The Arc Angels- The Arc Angels, At the gates- Slaughter of the Soul, and Avatarium- Avatarium…to name a few.
Up front, we’ve only encountered a few turbulences, as our van has proven to be less enthusiastic than we are…Never the less good friends and badass accommodations have allowed us to continue on our way with little hindrance.
For a heartfelt moment, I’d like to reflect on the magnitude of this experience as I’ve seen it. It’s not too often in life that you get the opportunity to become good friends with musicians you also admire. Expanding on the relationship previously started by Dobber and Sean, Oceans of Slumber has found comradery with our brothers of Evergrey and are greatly honored to be sharing in this journey and expanding on the vision of our musicianship.
The merging of an eclectic, yet complementing, set of bands has made each night’s performances increasingly enjoyable and we have formed new friendships amongst Voyager and Borealis as well. With enthusiastic turnouts, we look forward to enduring the long haul and can’t wait to perform in the upcoming Canadian shows.
Speaking of Canada, how many drunk metalheads are allowed to cross the border at a time? It’s not a riddle. It’s just fucking hilarious. The answer is all of them. All the drunk metalheads.
As we continue on our playlist includes:
Ayreon- The Theory of Everything, Billy Cobham- Spectrum, Black Tape for a Blue Girl- The Best Of, and The Book of Knots- Traineater.
Until next time!
