Where to start with this one is beyond me. When we think of a “dream tour” per se, I think one tour that we would have loved to have been a part of vs putting together (since it was just such a great line-up!) was the ’06-’07 era Taste of Chaos tour when they had Deftones, Thrice, As I Lay Dying, Story of the Year, Funeral For A Friend, Atreyu etc. Most of these bands were starting to really peak in terms of commercial success/sound and outside of Warped Tour/Ozzfest there were not many high profile mixed billed tours like this one. What really makes this special is each band had that personable element to their music along with the larger-than-life aura that comes with being a band of that stature. If you could somehow incorporate Misery Signals into that line up with us opening up the bill, we could quit being a band and go our separate ways having been a part of something that spectacular.
With that said – there is something to be said about watching innovative talent as it was being cultivated and during the mid-2000’s, served as the melting pot from which our band could and would exist. The eclectic trance of the Deftones with Chino’s voice is unique only to them and combined with their live show is something that hasn’t been replicated. As I Lay Dying, Funeral For a Friend, and even Atreyu had the powerful riffs and an unmatched stage presence that was missing from many bands at the time. Meanwhile, Story of the Year and Thrice had the adolescent emotion packed in high energy bursts. Thrice at that time underwent the metamorphosis to their calmer more spacier side as well so being able to see that every single night for a whole tour would be mind blowing, no doubt.
All in all, I think it’s safe to say that putting us together with any of the bands listed above would be an absolute dream come true. Outside of that, just put us on a tour with Linkin Park, Slipknot + Korn and we will be set, no complaints!
