In 2016 I went on a Scandinavian tour as an opening act for Nico & Vinz. I had been friends with them for a while before the tour, even stayed at their house at times in Los Angeles – and things started off friendly on the tour… emphasis on the word ‘started’.
When we got to the first venue, we all went to our own lounge and relaxed for a bit. The tour manager John, a former All-American defensive lineman, knocked on my door and asked:
– You play FIFA?
I responded:
– Sure.
– Great, you’re in the tournament, you got a game in 5.
I hadn’t played FIFA on PS4 before this, and all I got in my crib is a dusty XBOX 360 with FIFA 14 (mind you, we were playing FIFA 17 on this tour). So the first game started off horrible, I lost 3-1 against a not-so-good opponent.
But then I won a game. And I won another one. Aaaand another one. And holy shit I’m in the semi-finals against John. And wtf I’m in the final against Isak. Aaaaaand I won the whole tournament. There were salty looks, grudges were held, I never received the trophy and for some reason John body-tackled Vinz, who cried out “NOT THE FACE, NOT THE FAACE”.
In all seriousness, the guys were totally cool with everything, and I had the absolute time of my life on the tour.
But I still haven’t received my trophy.
