Polaroid Summer – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the alternative pop band, Polaroid Summer, talk about some of their crazy moments from touring. You can check out the feature, after the break.

We were on an East Coast tour that went through NYC. We had never played in Manhattan before and were in a big bus so we were very curious to see how it would work out with parking etc.

It turned out parking was the least of our worries. We asked for directions as we passed through the toll to go over the bridge into Manhattan. Somewhere along the way, we took a wrong turn down East Harlem road. About 2 miles after taking the turn, we saw a tunnel coming up. As we got closer we realized it was only 12ft clearance, and the bus was over 13ft.

As we neared the tunnel we looked behind us and there was jam-packed traffic for miles. Our only choice was to drive off the road into the river or gun it through the tunnel. Naturally, we decided to gun it through the tunnel and proceeded to rip off the satellite dish as well as the AC units. Let’s just say it was a great way to pull up to the venue as first timers playing in NYC.

It was one we will never forget!
