Hey, this is Andrea, Alex, Leandro & Cole from Prescription Happiness! Having almost forgotten what it feels like to be on tour during this horrible time, we’ve been fantasizing about what our dream line-up would be for the best tour ever!
To make this possible, we are conveniently ignoring the logistical nightmare of getting our hands on a fully-functioning time-machine. Assuming we could borrow one, our first stop would be some time in the mid-late 90s. With all respect to their current form, we can’t think of a better line-up than Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson from this era. These two artists put on some of the most intense, amazing, beautiful, and insane shows humanity has ever seen and have set the bar incredibly high for the next generation of artists to follow. Pretty sure we could learn a lot by watching them perform every night plus the added bonus of enjoying their sets from the side of the stage! The energy in the room would be completely overwhelming!
Did we mention the added benefit of the sick afterparty? Man, we don’t know if we could survive that for a prolonged tour… That attitude and that feeling of “danger” is what we miss the most in contemporary guitar-driven music, which has often become far too polite over the years; the ’90s were absolutely perfect in that regard.
Of course, we would be bringing someone with us in the time-machine.
Who better to round off this titanic line-up than the kings of industrial themselves; Rammstein? We haven’t thought through any ‘Butterfly Effect’ implications of the present-day Rammstein accidentally bumping into their younger selves but we’re sure that would be a small detail. The fire, CO2 blasters, and the stage production would be the icing on the cake! Wouldn’t want to be anyone in the tech aspect on that tour though; sounds like a production nightmare!
Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Prescription Happiness… could still happen, perhaps! Until then, let’s hope the world gets back to normal asap so we can get back in the van and hit the road!
