In this Dream Tour segment, the pop band, Rebel Kicks, reveals who they would want on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks, after the break.
Our dream tour lineup would be Muse, Coldplay, Beck, Phoebe Bridgers, Halsey, & Paul McCartney. All of these artists have been inspirations to us creatively, and it would be a thrill and an absolute honor to share a bill with any one of them individually, so all of them at once would truly be a dream tour.
Muse puts on one hell of a live show. They truly put the word “power” in power trio, and if it’s possible, sound even bigger live than they do on their records (which is saying something). They have such a distinct sound and have racked up so many songs over the years that are now iconic, that it’s impossible to go to one of their shows and not be totally pumped up.
Coldplay puts on one of the best live experiences you will ever witness. We saw them a few years ago at Metlife Stadium, and it was mind-blowingly great. Not only did they sound incredible, but the production value was absolutely stunning. There’s nothing quite like being in a stadium of 50,000 people who are all wearing wristbands with LEDs that are synchronized to the beat of every song, creating its own unique, personal light show. They also have such a wide range of material, so you inevitably get all the feels.
Beck is such an interesting, and unique artist. A true musical chameleon a la Paul McCartney, he can shift in and out of pretty much any style or genre and not only do it convincingly but legitimately. We’ve always gravitated toward artists who can cover a wide range of styles, and we consider that to be one of our strengths as writers and performers as well.
Phoebe Bridgers is one of our favorite newer artists. Her songs are heartfelt, and can be so direct and cutting lyrically, juxtaposed with her smooth, airy vocal delivery that makes you do a double-take, asking yourself: “Did she just say what I think she said?”. She also has such a compelling stage presence and a great band. We just dig her whole vibe, it would be awesome to be on a bill with her.
Halsey is a badass songwriter, vocalist, and a truly compelling, and dynamic performer. We saw her open for Imagine Dragons years ago before she blew up, and by the end of her opening set, we knew that she was going to be huge. We loved her last album, “Manic”, really powerful songs that showcased her range stylistically, which we love and identify with.
Paul McCartney is hands down our favorite artist ever. He’s half of the greatest songwriting team in the history of popular music, the most successful songwriter of all time, a pop genius, and a one-of-a-kind performer. Once Paul McCartney hits the stage, it’s over – there’s simply no following that. We’ve been lucky enough to see him perform a dozen or so times over the last 20 years, and each time was indescribably brilliant and powerful. The best word to use to describe seeing him perform is “effortless”. He casually switches from bass to acoustic guitar, to electric guitar, to mandolin, to ukulele, to piano, to…you get the point. All the while singing some of the greatest pop songs ever written. It’s a one-of-a-kind concert experience.
