Coming from the cool, dry air of Wyoming/Montana directly to a week straight tour in Texas definitely isn’t the ideal situation for us cowboys. We are currently in Houston bumming some McDonalds’ WiFi after our show last night with Hurt at The Scout Bar. The first few days of this tour were spent touring down to Texas on our own to meet up with Hurt in Austin to begin this second leg of our tour with them. On our way down, we were able to pick up some great shows to get a little gas money stashed. One of these shows was the first Lifelight Festival in Dallas, where we were able to catch up with our boys in Phinehas and From The Eyes of Servants.
We are currently touring in a Chevy Silverado with 6 dudes while our van is getting repaired in Corpus Christi. This is a first for us, and honestly it is a luxury. There is not as much room, but it only takes $60 dollars to fill up the tank and the A/C works flawlessly, so no complaining here!
It was great joining back up with Hurt. We have been having a blast with them on the road and have a great amount of respect for them. They are great dudes and one of the tightest bands we have had the pleasure of playing with. Half the fun on this tour has been figuring out what we can do with the stage space we have every night. We backline cabs and their drumset is on stage as well, which we set up right in front of. We make sure that our set is jam packed with a ton of stage energy every night, whether we have 10 feet of stage depth or 2 feet. More often than not, it’s 2 feet…just enough to headbang and kick each other. Instead of using this as an excuse to chill down, it’s an excuse to look like idiots falling all over stuff keeping our intensity and most importantly just having fun, which we hope each fan takes from our show.
Today our drummer is working as Victor’s (drummer for Hurt) tech while they open for Guns ‘n Roses in Lubbock, TX while we are tracking our scratch tracks for the few songs that will be added to our E.P. to make it into a full length, which we will be recording at the end of this tour. We are currently in the process of picking from a pool of nine songs that we are very excited about, making it a difficult decision.
Tomorrow we are taking off early to make the standard stop at Guitar Center and then play at the infamous Trees venue. It has been amazing meeting the variety of people we meet on these bar/club tours. Everybody has been so down to earth with us and our music is being very well received. We are definitely blessed to be able to start such great relationships with people every day. Being able to talk with them about their life, their past, their musical preferences, or even somebody wanting a quick prayer with us, we enjoy every second we get meeting such amazing people.
You can check out our tour dates online and we hope to see you at one of our upcoming shows! Until then, we will continue our journey of survival in the humid summer heat of the South and try to make it out of here alive.
Keep up with the band on Facebook and Twitter!
